Immobiliser
My son's Vauxhall Astra 'N' Reg has an immobiliser which has completely gone crazy - it just would'nt turn off - so hence he can't start the car - his idiot friend said cutting the wire would work - well obviously it did'nt.
My husband has towed his car home this morning and has rejoined the wire, but the car still will not start.
Taking the immobiliser out would be the answer - but we have'nt a clue how to do this. Any ideas ????
or shall be get in touch with a mechanic who has electrical knowledge?

'cutting the wire; makes it sound aftermarket they would never have found any wires if it had been factory fit.
anyone with a basic knowledge of electrics should get past it, just a question of following wires(depending on how well it was fitted) to find out which curcuits have been spliced into, usually just one on the ignition curcuit , fuel pump relay or similiar , just join them up and job done. Its not that difficult just ask the darling little 'twockers' with one brain cell..they can do it in seconds.

No, it must have been fitted at a later date, I don't think it came from factory when car was manufactured. You have to press device on the key fob once to unlock the car and then press again to disarm the bloody thing.
It has a little red light on the dash - as I said, my husband managed to rejoin the wires, but it still does'nt seem to work.
