I would, in your position go for a Pug 205 etc, on your route there will be many scrap yards/ Auto parts shops & parts can be fitted without specialist equipment.

For 100, mate, you'll be lucky if it gets you to the end of your street let alone Spain!!

Happy hunting, anyway.
Jack Osbourne bought an old FIat Panda and travelled from Hyde Park to Mongolia, acroos rough terrain and road. It got most of the way and died just before reaching Mongolia.

He paid 350 for that 2 years ago.

So I would say you COULD do it quite easily.

An old Nissan should quite easily make the journey.
What is the most reliable make of car you would buy for 100 quid ?

Let me get this straight ...

If I tell you the most reliable make of car ...

... you'll give me 100 ?
If a 100 is cheap you can afford to pay it out why bother asking the Q in the first place.

scappers are giving that for old cars- surely you'll be lucky to get a runner fr that. I 'd get that in spares for a decent car.

for 100 i wouldnt go near french or british, go german or jap, i know so many people who have baught cheap MK2 golfs or something jap and its been a dump but runs a dream! so in my oppinions german or jap
I would say a VW Golf - Mk1 or 2. I bought my 1984 Mk2 in 1987 and it has now done 238,000+ on the original engine. The car has completed so many touring holidays and in 2006 my wife and I drove down to Gibraltar and then toured the Costa del Sol before driving back through France. I only needed to change the points in Lyon and top up the oil. Last year we toured north France and spent a few days driving around Paris.

I can keep the car fully serviced and maintained at "no expense spared" as all parts are so basic, cheap and available. I just keep a small tool box in the rear footwell and that contains all the tools I might need while we are away, although - touchwood - we haven't been let down yet.

Unfortunately, the original red paint has oxidised to bright orange and gone totally flat over the years. I really wouldn't get more than 250-300 if I ever tried to sell the car, despite it being mechanically superb. I would never sell it of course but if you look for a similar car that's been cared for in the same way it'll sail down to Spain with no trouble. You can always fit any new parts you need before you go and you'll only need to take a few basic tools. You can get any new or second-hand Golf parts anywhere along the route.

Have fun - I know you will as I've done the trip myself.
