Does anyone know if you can still get a new passport the same day if you travel to the passport office?

My BF's passport has expired and he needs to go back to Ireland for his Nan's funeral.

you can apparently fast track a renewal on an adult passport by appointment, according to the booklet i have.

try the number and ask.
though if he is a from the UK he may be able to travel with photo ID (like driving licence), depends on the airline
is your bf going to the north or south, if its the north he doesnt need a passport just a form of id like driving licence

as naflharrison and red said, but I'm sure you can still use an expired passport as photo ID if he has no photo driving license.

Check with the airline.

Pure smut Leggy :-)

We're trying to get a flight with BMI.......It says you need photo ID but it doesn't just specify if it's a valid passport/driving licence.Just says that it shouldn't be tampered with.

Is it worth taking the risk?
depends what part of ireland. southern ireland you need a passport and northern ireland you can use photo id such as a driving license. not to sure if airlines except a expired passport but it would be a good idea to take it just in case with some other proofs of identification too.
Question Author
Just in case anyone is interested he did get on the flight with his expired passport. Apparently as long as it hasn't expired for over two years you can still fly.

That's with BMI.
