I hear `The Royal` and `Heartbeat` are to be shelved by ITV due to lack of advertising. Then why the hell don`t they reduce the charges to advertise?

Because the audiences are a set dynamic, so the advertisers who appeal to that audience range will place their advertising revenue elsewhere.

ITV will then find new programmes for those time-slots, and be able to offer advertising at their standard rates without loosing revenue.

I don't think either programme - bearing in mind the age and length of transmission - are considered valuable enough to salvage at a financial cost.
Don't worry, I'm sure they'll find something involving Mylene Klass to replace them.

Yay......
I think Heartbeat is well past its sell by date. I haven't watched it for years. The Royal, Where the Heart Is, etc. the African thingy, etc, etc. have a very limited audience now.

Lets have some really gritty dramas please.
Don't get your hopes up loftylottie - sounds like drama's are out and crap like i'm a celeb and x factor are in!
Oh well, there's always the Radio!!!
Heartbeat has been past its sell by date for about ten years
