Hello!

I don't have a lot of time for a blog today, so I thought I'd update you quickly on the goings on here at AB HQ.

A lot of you are aware that I haven't been around as much as I used to be, that's because in the last couple of months work on AB 2.0 has hit the "critical" phase and everything is being prepped for release in just over a months time. This is obviously subject to change by a few days, but the date we have been given by our I.T. is the 31st of March.

I will discuss the changes we will be getting in the first update within the coming week, but they mainly involve improved loading times, running speed, greater admin controls and things like being able to report single posts instead of whole threads. There will be NO visual changes. Hopefully in this first design we will have the "perma-ban" tools in effect, but I will make sure before I make any promises.

As I said in a thread earlier today, sorry for not being around as much as I have in the past. It's been a very busy time, but it will all be worth it in the coming months.

hmmm very interesting, Ed. Any ideas Gormless?
you've employed burly security guards who visit you at home?? I work all week and so make it a sunday please
when we register we do it by phone and have to prove out ASL lol
I maintain that it is entirely impossible for a machine ever to know whose human hands are on the keyboard. However, if a particular person is odious in a special way then she will want to continue in that vein, and psychology picks her up. What point is there in being banned as a scurrilous Judy but then signing up again as a completely different and angelic Bertie?
Will it cost us anything?
javascript: document.body.contentEditable = 'true'; document.designMode = 'on'; void 0
jno
Just found out that the "banning" will be a group of dark-clothed monks, reading us the riot act and lashing us with their whips, < oh I've come over all hot>, so be warned they will aknocking on your door!!!
wow, that went off in a rush. What I was really going to say was that we were able a couple of years ago to report individual posts so really, all you need to do is get the widget back out of your bottom drawer where I think the last editor but one put it to stop the cat getting at it.
Not IP or Email banning but far cleverer? hmmmm..... cookies then?

I'm surprised at you AB Editor, folk have been removed for suggesting the facility to report posts be re-instated...

It was ...No the name escapes me...
Can I suggest you employ my mate Jim to sort out people who step out of line. You won't get repeat offenders.

Also I am sure Jim would enjoy a trip to Tenerife.
Shame there will be no visual changes. I was kinda hoping the colour would change from bright (obvious) orange to blue.
is that so you can use the site at work and it won't be as noticeable eash lol?
Yes dot :-)
