THE classic....I grew up with these...

This one is the original Niemann-Marcues $250,000 recipe and is guaranteed to do the trick:

2 cup butter
2 cup light brown sugar
2 cups granulated sugar
4 large egg
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
4 cups all-purpose flour
2 teaspoon baking powder
2 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon salt
24 oz semi-sweet chocolate chips
5 cups of blended oatmeal
2 cups of chopped nuts (optional)
Preheat oven to 375 F. Cream the butter with the sugars until fluffy using an electric mixer on medium speed (apx 30 seconds). Add in the egg and vanilla extract and blend for another 30 seconds.

In a mixing bowl, sift together the flour, blended oatmeal, salt, baking powder and baking soda and beat into the butter at low speed for about 15 seconds. Stir in the chocolate chips. (If you choose you can use the nuts)

Roll into 1 in balls and place on a greased baking sheet 2 inches apart. Bake for 10 min or until golden brown on bottom.
(Pastafreak's is easier though)

....tho I have an old Quaker Oats recipe that is similar-just smaller quantities.
