Virus in mobile phone?

Was sorting my grandaughter`s laptop out a few days ago. she had a limewire folder which I scanned with avg, which found several trojans in the folder.
I deleted the folder, but she had already transferred music to her phone, I wondered at the time if these trojans could have transferred to her phone.
I`d forgotten about it until seeing Young Foster`s question, below.
Is it possible for them to be in her phone now? I didn`t realise you could get av for phones, or that it was necessary.

In theory it is possible to write a virus for a phone... but very very unlikely so I wouldn't worry about it at all.

and you don't need (and as far as I know can't get) anti virus for phones.
Could you connect the phone to the laptop, so the phone appears as a device in windows explorer. You could then scan it as you would any other drive ?
