on excell when I am writing a formula I dont seem to have the button you click so that i can drag the mouse and select all the cells I want :( please help

Go to Tools - Customise. and select the toolbars tab then select (highlight) the standard toolbar (I think) and click the reset button.

I think it is the standard toolbar that button is on anyhow :) if not reset the others too
