Many thanks for the link, greyfox. Only scraps of frozen snow left here in York, but the threat of more at the weekend. Hope it doesn't interefere with the rugby!
I've completed the entire grid except for the two unchecked letters in 25 down. I think the are C and R, but I can't convince myself. Reassurance - or correction - would be much appreciated!
Thanks for the link. No snow here in the Algarve but torrential rain and occasional storms, just so we don't miss out on all the action!
Thanks for the link greyfox ~ much appreciated.
The snow here in the Pennines (West Yorkshire) is still lying with possibly more on it's way. I know what I'll be doing over the next couple of hours!
Many thanks for link
Thank you for the link greyfox, most enjoyable.
Spaghetti, I also used those letters, based on the entry after the answer, plus the definition for the last word in the clue.
Thanks DocHH. That makes the wordplay clear. I still think the definition is a bit iffy, but in it goes!
I agree Spaghetti, much better if the last word was singular.
Thanks for the link greyfox.

Very pleasant way of spending time on a cold afternoon, and I enjoyed the link the connection with the Title And No.
I echo those sentiments. Good fun. Thank you greyfox.
I too have finished and agree with solution to 25D. According to my research, the definition word should be singular (synonym less one letter giving solution). A very enjoyable and clever Speccie.
P.S. The Christian name of the author of the quotation being the same as mine was a help!
This was indeed another 'good one'. I initially had the T & N switched at 32A - still a perfectly good answer - which held me up somewhat until the penny dropped. What fun.
I enjoyed this but the quotation I found was slightly different, the 5th word being 'with'. Anyone else find this?
The first Google link I found used "with" but every other one used the word that wound up fitting in the grid. I was surprised to find, in my searching, that the quote author was born in the town that I currently live in! I probably should have known that already.
Yes, oldenburg, I initially did exactly the same with the music. I had a blind spot for a while with the wordplay in 15D.
