I love pork & cabbage

I do cabbage cooked in butter with a little red wine vinegar, a pinch of sugar & chopped apple - yum
I simmer mine with a jar of cranberry sauce thrown in. It's rather nice :o)
Meat and Potato Pie with pickled red cabbage is great, but it depends on when you want to use it.
mmm think i might try that out

i bought red cabbage the other day and was going to have it with pork but wasn't sure what to do with it so its still in the fridge
Shred the red cabbage, then steam until tender. Test with a fork, and when satisfied that it is tender enough, stir in ginger powder, (I use 1 teaspoon to half of a red cabbage, depends of course on the size of the cabbage). Serve with stir fried pork, or pork medallions, and roast or mashed potatoes. It also goes well with lamb. Delicious. Especially so in winter.
This is reasonably simple:

Red Cabbage appled pork

2 large tart apples (We prefer Granny Smith's here in the U.S.)
2 teaspoons lemon juice
1 pound boneless pork tenderloin, cut in thin strips
5 tablespoons vegetable oil, divided
2 medium onions, thinly sliced
1 small head red cabbage, finely shredded
1/4 cup red currant jelly
3 tablespoons red wine vinegar
1 cup unsweetened apple juice
1/4 teaspoon allspice
salt and pepper to taste
Peel, core, and slice apples, toss with lemon juice, and set aside. In a large, heavy skillet, brown the pork in 3 tablespoons oil until cooked through, then remove from skillet and drain on absorbent paper. Add remaining oil. Saute onions until soft but not brown. Add cabbage and saute, stirring often, until cabbage begins to wilt. Add apples and pork and stir well. Combine jelly, vinegar, apple juice, and seasonings and pour over cabbage, stirring to coat everything evenly. Cover tightly and simmer for 10 to 15 minutes. Do not allow to boil dry -- add water if necessary.

delia smith's sauted red cabbage with cranberries is delicious, as is her spiced red cabbage and apples. you can google both the recipes.
I must admit the only time I've had red cabbage it was pickled and I did not care for it.

But looking at these recipes, I am gonna try the pork and red cabbage and the others.
in a large wok stirfry some red onions , add finely sliced red cabbage, add a splash or two of dry cider, and a jar of apple sauce ( or homemade if you can be bothered) bung on a lid or some foil and let it steam in it's juices until tender.

serve with pork chops and mash potato
hi there
i would slice it very thinly then marinate it in some red wine and a touch of sugar then after 3-4 hrs or so drain off keeping the liquid aside sweat the cabbage down in a big pan with a bit of the wine add more sugar about 100ml of orange juice and a splash of red wine vinegar cook out on the stove with a lid on checking every 10 minutes and if needed adding a little of the red wine marinade until cooked should be finshed with salt and pepper and a few knobs of butter for the shine and taste
please note the cabbage will take a while to cook but my god will it be worth it best served with red meat ,venison ,beef ,duck
happy cooking
thanks
rob
Here's a very simple and tasty use for red cabbage.
Wash and finely shred it with an onion.
Put enough mince in a bit of water to fill as many pitta breads as you can eat, and cook it.
When it's done, line a lightly toasted pitta bread with the cabbage and onion, and fill with the cooked mince. Add slices of cucumber and tomato on top - and drape with hot pepper sauce if you like it.
Lovely, filling, and quick to make.
