can someone please settle an ongoing argument.

Can the Queen get rid of the government or overule a policy/law that government bring in. I think not as she is not democratically elected ?. I am prepared to look sheepish

I'm pretty sure she's purely ceremonial these days

At least she was according to my politics text book two years ago!
