Handles on a bath

I have bought a new bath and I want to add handles to the inside. Can I? Some say yes some say no. I dont want it to support loads of weight just help balance with getting in and out.

you'd have to drill the holes for the them Lukey...............ok if it's an acrylic (plastic) bath...............but drilling a steel one ............be really careful to not cause the finish to flake off............
Perhaps a suction safety grip type of handle would be sufficient. I have two and find them quite satisfactory so far. Here is an example from Argos but many suppliers have them these days:

Thanks for answers. Its a plastic bath
Be very careful with the suction type as unless they`re adhered to a very clean/dry tiled wall they will come unstuck and could cause a serious injury, as I found to my cost a few months ago. Take them off and thoroughly clean every month, if you purchase them.
