I'm not at all overweight but do have a thickening waistline which really gets me down as I can't shift it. I can really understand people who are overweight getting really down and desperate but I don't know if bypass surgery is the answer. There's nothing that beats exercise and just keeping on the move in general.
surgery is a bit drastic mate especially if you are going to some foriegn cutting shop. Gawd knows it could be the local barber doing the OP! How much is it in the UK?
It is wrong to think that being thin will make you happy, take it from me.

well maybe i am just one or the unfortunate ,many many thousands of overweight people,,. who would go to such lengths..i hate being overweight, just like anne diamond says ,it contols every part of u,emotions etc...and india i must add have some of the best surgeons in the world in this field, more so even than uk...why pay 12 k here when i could pay half that...ive blew 5k in a month on the booze....and i could easily die if i got hit by a bus in the morning...so why not pay 5k for happiness..
A 36 inch waist is not huge. I doubt any reputable surgeon would give you a Gastric Band, as you are no means obese.

All you need to do is eat a bit healthier and take regular exercise. It doesn't sound like you have a weight problem. Also, men naturally carry excess weight around the waist and stomach area, you sound normal to me.
How tall are you soicowboy?

Ive been in jobs where the lassies wouldnt even talk to me cos I wasnt dieting and eating fruit for lunch
I was jibed at school
LOADS of stuff, still happening up to a year ago, it is sheer hell at times and yet I am not 'skinny' I have an hourglass shape albeit in a small frame

hey weeal ur one lucky guy by the sound if it...how come we see all these gorgeous birds with skinny guys then? im 41 and i dont care about chasing it,im married but i just want my self esteem and confidence back..and my clothes to look good on me ...maybe bypass is extreme but it works!!!! for a small price !!
I dont tend to fancy skinny guys, its a turn off for me
I for one would not do it.....it is not foolproof and it means NEVER eating normally again.
Honestly-you do not sound as if you are in desperate need fot this.....Velvetee is the one to talk to in regards excercise-but are you sure you are doing the right exercises correctly?.You may also have a lot of muscle if you workout regularly-and that weighs more than fat.
Have you looked at your diet to see what adjustments you can make there??...keep a food diary for a week or two....nasties such as beer or fried foods would make a big difference in whether or not you lose weight. I really think some small changes could make a difference...and accepting that NONE of us look the same at 40,50, or 60 as we did at 20.
I agree with pasta, you are not huge despite what you may think. go into any high street and you will see a myriad of different shapes and sizes. you felt great for that year you were thin, how did you put that weight back on? you can obviously lose it as you have proved.

12 stone, 5'6" and ALL my weight is at my middle. when i sit down i look like a walnut whip. i would pay 5k for happiness (as long as i had 5k left afterwards).
