I sat next to Kenny Dalglish on a flight from Glasgow to Birmingham, on the day of Jock Stein's funeral. He was really nice, new all the results that season of the Spurs, and asked me how to get from Birminham to Oxford. When I said that the driver picking him up would know the way, he said "No he won't, he's from Liverpool!!"

After we collected our bags, we went through the door and two assistants rushed up to him, grabbed his bags and dragged him off. I like to think that I saw the real Kenny Dalglish!!

My local pub has been the home to many well know footballers. Over the years many have used it for there local. Mike Lyons ,Steve McMahon. Kevin Sheedy and Mike Newell use it now. The 2 I know and knew best, Ian Callaghan and the late great Brian Labone. Because of these two ive met many players over the years . (Ray Wilson. Tony Kay Brian Harris )all were great to talk to. Labby was so funny. And then theres Cally considering hes a red!!!hes a proper gent, Im having a drink with him later never had a problem with any . dont know about todays footballers????????
When I was a boy, I lived not far from Ron "Chopper" Harris near Epsom in Surrey. He also owned a newsagents shop, and you could often find him behind the counter. A real down-to-earth "what you see is what you get" kind of bloke. I was also Ian Britton's (who??) milkman. He was OK too.

Les - the newsagents in Ruxley Lane he bought from my best mate's in-laws !!
At the 125th Anniversary game for Spurs (v Villa - 4-4) I was fortunate enough to be invited to dinner in the boardroom.

I met a number of my heroes, including Terry Medwin, Toni Marchi, Pat Jennings, Glen Hoddle and David Ginola.

Two, however, stood out for me.

Stefan Freund was a pleasure to talk to. Tracey Dixon, Daniel Levy's partner, was explaining how when she first went to watch, she asked why the Spurs fans booed him every time he touched the ball. She was surprised to be told that they were actually saying *shoot", because he had never scored. Stefan is the only footballer who tells stories of his great misses!!

The other was Nayim, who spoke excellent English, and signed my program "Nayim, from the halfway line"
I have met quite a few footballers over the years and in general they have been decent blokes, i lived near to Stanley Mathews and met him on many occasions and we would have a chat, he was the most humble and down to earth man i have ever met, he would often answer when asked about his fame, i don't know what all the fuss is about. a true gentleman.
Unfortunately I have met Alan(Humpty Dumpty) Shearer along with Rob Lee. Shearer,Ignorant,Arrogant, boring pain in the arse,(unless TV Cameras or Press were there). Rob Lee,a real gentleman. Nicest Footballers I ever met: Joe Harvey,Niall Quinn,Jimmy Scoular,Peter Beardlsey,Colin Suggett,Charlie Hurley,Kevin Phillips and Jim Montgomery.

I was a scout for QPR for about 10 years and met quite a few players, Les Ferdinand is a great bloke, always willing to chat as was Gerry Francis,Phil Parkes, stan Bowles,Tony currie, Ray Wilkins Presented awards to Neville southall and peter reid, both were great. Terry venables was a bit stuck up, as a kid I was coached by alan mullery, he was a nice bloke, also played against rodney marsh (made me look a right wally)
BigDave44...You got it. Number 12, I believe. And he lived (think he still might) in Ewell Village.
