My next door neighbour runs a Community Local Area Network (Wireless Mesh Network) on behalf of a few local villages that cannot get broadband.
Every time I switch my laptop on, it connects to my neighbours system, although I cannot access it without a password etc.
I have to ask my laptop to disconnect from the neighbours system and connect to my own ISP.
Is there any way I can make my laptop connect to my own provider straight away.

If you are using XP, you should have a wireless icon in your status bar by the clock.

Double click on that - the click on 'view wireless networks'

Then in the right hand panel click 'change the order of preferred networks'

In the Wireless Networks tab
Click on your own wifi, then click 'move up' until it is at the top of the list.

That should sort it
If that doesn't work try removing the offending network in the same sequence as above answer.

Thanks Ethel and Prescott. I have Vista (ought to have said), I do have a wireless icon near the clock but on double clicking it, it brings up Acer eNet Management, but I am afraid I don't understand it. Sorry!
