Does anyone agree that the pilot who managed to land that stricken aeroplane yesterday , given the circumstances ,without anyone being killed , is a hero ?

Agree with BertiWooster. Depends on whether you assess the situation from a Vulcan logical point of view or from a deep feeling balanced human being point of view. To me, he was/is a hero. Yes, there are heroes/heroines who act to help those in danger even though they are not in danger themselves. Yet, if it wasn't for the pilots heroic courage all would have died that day. We can view facts with logic as well as our hearts- this is what makes us human/whole/holistic beings. There are many different types of heroism + many different kinds of heroes for sure. One of my chapters in a 'happy' ( title under wraps)book am writing + compiling is to be called 'Lifebelts'- to be all about heroic tales + bravery( stories, poems and quotes). Enjoyed reading these posts :-) Big hugs, Bea :-) We can all be heroes in one way or another, if we chose to, too ;-)
i think hero really, he could have panicked and made a bad job out of an even worse situation but he kept his calm and did what he could. I cannot imagine how scary it must have been for pilot and passengers and think this is a wonderful piece of news for a change, obviously better if it had never happened, but amazing that the worst injury was a broken leg...............
He was doing what he is trained and paid to do.

And paid very nicely thank you.
