'Racism' Gone TOO Far

Not sure where to post this so I'll just put it here.
Basically, the other day at Uni, a friend and I went into the IT labs to do some important work in the quiet.
We got there and there were these two girls, sitting either side of the room and shouting across a conversation between eachother.
OK, this is blatantly rude, disrespectful and not on.
Thing is, these girls are Asian, talking in their own language and quite clearly talking about us (gestures, pointing, laughing etc).
My friend was upset as she really needed a quiet room to get some work done, so she complained to the IT Technician who said he'd have a word.
Anyway, couple of days later and she's been accused of being 'racist' and is being called up in front of the dean, with the possibility of being thrown off the course!
Opinions please! Advice! Anything!

Sounds to me like they have completely made up the race allegation because they can.
They just wanted you to get into trouble because you obviously annoyed them by 'getting them into trouble' for talking.
This sort of thing really annoys me and reminds me of a time when I was at college. A group of black teenagers were walking past me and shouted abuse and commented on the fact I was white. Had it been the other way round I would have been kicked out.
I'm sure your friend will be fine, just tell her to make sure it doesn't stay on her record. She doesn't want to be accused of being racist when she clearly isn't.

Thanks for all your replies, like I say she's got some support and I can try and give her some advice from the people who have given some here. I think she's just worried it'll be on record, which will obviously make it harder for her to find a job.

did she say something you didnt?
you were with her and you arent in trouble.
so it would seem open and shut and no worries for your friend you were there you both said nothing and a mistake by the uni.
mistakes happen.
or as i said is there something youre not saying?
dont post ask for opinions then strop like a schoolgirl because someone points out a major flaw in your whole arguement.
As for hard to get a job as a nurse .
i assume if sdhepasse the course she will be able to get a job .if she fails it wont matter what she may or may not have said.

My fat ginger scotsman big? That was a comment off the top of my head with 'fat' 'ginger' and 'scotsman' all being discriminations, similar to racist remarks. I can use 'old' 'silver haired' 'welshman' if you prefer? I really don't understand why everyone is ultra suspicious or others? Have I missed something? I think it's a sad place on AB when people have to justify themselves for no reason.
As for why I'm not in trouble I have no idea, apart from the fact that it was my friend who physically got up and spoke to the technician - I was just sitting at the pc trying to get this work done. I don't know why I'm not in trouble, I'm glad I'm not though.

Just a little update - things were getting far on in the 'investigation' after my friend saw the dean and explained...they decided to 'drop the charge'.
We just hope it's not put on her record, hopefully it won't be. Apparently they've done this a number of times, in order to get pecs forms and get longer to hand in their assignments (due to emotional distress or something ridiculous) and even though the Uni know what they're like, they have to take every 'racist' complaint seriously. Lets hope she got an extension on her business studies essay...
I have to admit I'm very very angry on behalf of my friend. She's been through the mill this week, and all for nothing.
