Dot, you have my sympathies. A near neighbour has a flag pole and the continuous slapping sound is irritating beyond belief.
Another neighbour once checked on the legalities of the thing and found that no planning laws had been breached.

All I can do is suggest a few choice words, such as.....sharp scissors......dead of night
Anyway, after all that nonsense, I think people who fly flags outside should have the decent consideration to take them down at dusk.

It is Ethel, but I think it is alot to do with the fact that the guy has little or no clue as to how to run up a flag, the ropes are too loose and as you say they make alot of slapping and twanging noises. the flag also seems to be noisy as it is very windy of late.

Actually Rollo that si a very sensible comment, why does it need to flap and slap up there 24 hours?? At Christmas he ran a wire of coloured outdoor light all the way up the pole too, the man is a complete chav!
I seem to think that if the flag gets defaced, he has to take it down (although I imagine it will be replaced).

So keep an eye on it and if it wears, it needs to come down.

Sorry, dot - got the wrong St David's there.

Hope envioronmental health can help you out with the noise nuisance.

Those big wind chimes can be very annoying too, especially in the summer with the windows open

i shall watch out for it starting to fray lol!
Oh don't start me on windchimes Ethel. Next doors have got some wooden tubular ones on their back fence. All I can hear all summer is clank, clank, bloody clank.

I have not yet managed to train the cat to go and steal them and bury them somewhere, but I am working on it.........
Barmaid, I am thankful for my deafness at times. :)
