No idea, but when you find one and if there's one in the South, then pass it on.

When I have my baby in June, I'll probably be a pushy mum and want baby to model. Although I do have my heart set on him being a Formula 1 star.
For goodness sake!!!

Why can't you just let your kids be kids?

Poor little sods are little teenagers by the time they're 5 these days.
If thats the way you want to go on no account pay any money upfront for your child to model , if they want your child and are a legit company they will pay for the portfolio .. i know this as my nephew used to model for catalogues when he was a little boy

excuse me? who are you to comment on my children? the reason I want to find a modeling agency is we had some photos done recently and my eldest loved it, we couldn't get him away from the place. He also wants to join a theatre work shop, is that wrong in your eyes as well? please don't answer my post unless you have a answer that is helpful! Velvetee Im sure there are plenty in the south but he/she may not want to model so you will have to wait and see or you might upset the likes of madmaggot.

Thankyou Ladybird, i have been told that before but Im having problems finding a agency that doesnt charge.
No point; you obviously can't accept any opinion except your own!
Agencies should never ever charge.

What is their incentive to find work for the model if they are getting paid just for having the model on their books?

Models should get money from joining an agency ... not pay money for the privilege.

did I ask for opinion? and how can you give an opinion when you don't know all the details? I asked if you knew of any modeling agencies. Take it you don't...
Question Author
Thats what I was thinking Jayne, if you come across any let me know x
It's not an OPINION site, it's actually somewhere where people can post questions and hopefully receive non judgemental answers. If Yummy's children enjoy modelling, why shouldn't they.

Thankyou Velvetee, My children do many things especially the eldest he is only 5 but he knows what he likes and when ever he wants to do something I try and give him the chance and if he decides he doesn't like it i don't make him, the only thing I have ever made them do when the don't like it is swimming lessons, i make them go because one day they may need to be able to swim so they like it or lump it im afraid lol
OK, hands up. I jumped to conclusions!
You sound like a great mum.
But; I still don't agree with children modelling!
If there weren't any child models, then catalogues and brochures for children's clothing would suffer.

Having worked in the fashion Industry for many years, working in Children's fashion, without child models, we would never have got the right fit and styling.

It's a job like any other job, so I can't see your problem with children modelling Madmaggot, it just seem your opinions are based on ignorance of the industry.
Question Author
well i know my boy will love it because he loves to be in front of the camera and any money he got from it would be a bonus and would be put into his bank and probably spent on toys!
I just think that today's society is too concerned with looks rather then substance. Children just 'want to be famous' rather than wanting to achieve something. Anyway, I don't want to hijack the thread; maybe it is a subject for a further thread?
yummymum, I'll ask around, and post back on here if I get any recommendations.

thankyou Jayne. i do see your point Mad but he wants to do it and i know he will enjoy it. I would never make him. Many people probably share your opinion but where my children are concerned i try to let them do what makes them happy even if i don't really agree { not that i disagree with modeling} or if others dont agree, it is his life after all. I dont like him going football for instance and i bloody hate standing there in the cold watching him but he loves it so i do { although i do try and get his Dad to go lol }
Madmaggot ... I'm not being argumentative, but ... you think that today's society is too concerned with looks rather then substance ??

If we took a straw poll and asked everybody we knew if the would rather become ...

... much better looking, or

... a person with more substance,

How do you think it would go?

If I could wake up one morning to find that I was stunningly attractive, I think I'd go for that.

I've got two friends who are awesomely goodlooking. One is a woman who looks like she was drawn by a man having a fantasy. She is sex on legs. The other is an oriental, and she is truly breathtaking. And take it from me, we would love to look like either of them.

It's just the way things are.

But ... don't make the mistake of automatically confusing modelling with exploitation.

Try this, yummymum. This's a legitimate modelling agency, who have children who've been in TV adverts on their books.
Can I just say, that a child doesn't have to be especially beautiful to look at, but has to have that certain "something" which can be captured on camera. Modelling agencies also look for very well-behaved children, as waits between shoots can be very long-winded. They prefer parents who aren't pushy as well, and you have to be available at any given time to chaperone your child to auditions and photo shoots. Best of luck. x
