An idea to stop people reporting threads willy nilly, just because they have the hump over the subject matter.

When you report a thread, if the Ed decides that the thread does not warrant being banned ...

... then the Reporting ABer goes to the Dungeon for 48 hours.

thats a little harsh as a thread may be offensive to some folk but may not be removed. It may be bettter to use the dungeon for people who report a set number of threads that dont get banned??

Okay, maybe not for "first offences"

=0)

But it would help people to learn that their own subjective sensibilities are not the criteria for determining whether or not a thread should be removed.

As an alternative ... maybe cutting off their fingers?
jayne chicken

to clarify

since they changed the report answer option

things havegot much better

if you think this is bad then a year ago when folk would block repot evry single answer you posted , using their multiple different ids would have scared the crap outta you

next da the d could see who had reported and could trace some ips i reckon and seee a pattern.
As a result the report answer option was removed .

Strangely folk moan about wanting it back , tho they ontrealise that a lot of long long standing users used that option to get rid of posts from folk they didnt like

so things are a lot better now jayne

trust me

ihad many names and posts banned and even answers

because they were by me

it was a bad idea and was right for it to be removed

the eds doin a good job just bear wih him

...... where's this dungeon? I think I may have a use for it.
Tell me more geezer....!!! :-)

I've been there.
If the thread doesn't warrent being banned then it's reinstated (sp I think). What other people find offensive is subjective so in the same way you don't want people reporting threads willy nilly because subjectively you think they're ok, you can't stop people reporting because subjectively they do think it's offensive or unsuitable and they have a right to do so.

I've reported lots of stuff in AB because I dislike the content, tone or because I want attention drawn to particular answers. I've never reported just because I'm not made keen on the pixels asking the question, if others choose to do so that's up to them but I suspect if they're reporting for that reason they'll be pulled for it and the thread will appear again. There are more fun things to twist your knickers about.
Willys and knickers....

I can see where this thread is going ;-)
