Are you saying that the cheque isn't yours. Have you still got the cheque in your cheque book?

saying that a cheque that was never given by me, was chased by someone,

*cashed, and either someone found an old cheque book or somthing..
If it was a cheque from your chequebook then they will have to prove that it definitely wasn't you who wrote it before they do anything, they usually do this by comparing signatures. I would contact your local police about it too, that is what my bank told me to do when a cheque I had written was altered to a much larger amount by the recipient.
id tell em, to f*** o** out of it, and givem a clip around the ear!

It's understandable that the bank would need to check up on this then if the cheque was from your cheque book.

If you have been a good customer if you explain the cheque was fraudulent and ring the poilce they may help you out.

But my guess is that the bank may close the account in case any more stolen cheques are used
You need to cancel the chequebook that the fraudulent cheque was from in case the person who cashed it has the whole chequebook. You also need to put in writing that you believe the cheque to be fraudulent and address it to the manager of your branch, send it recorded delivery so they cannot deny having received it.
Do you have any idea who may have done this? Could it be a visitor to your home,or even a family member? If you do have any suspicions report them to the police ASAP.

Well, today I went along to the bank, and basicly, they informed me 'oops, we made a mistake' and all traces of the transaction have dissapeared, thank you everyone who has replied
