John Lennon said that The Beatles were as popular as Jesus. He was castigated by the Catholic Church for expressing his opinion.

Now, in it's newspaper, the Osservatore Romano, the Vatican has forgiven John Lennon.

Are we ...

Pleased that the Church has belatedly caught up with the times?

Irritated that the Church should be so conceited as to think that anyone cares?

I think what Lennon meant at the time was that the name "the Beatles" was as recognizable to the same number of people as "Jesus" was. (sorry for the poor construction of that sentence, i'm tired) x

I was a bit of an over-reaction to virtually burn him at the stake.

After all, he was probably right.

and it was correct at the time

i read today that only 52% of people believe in god

therefore lennon had a valid point

seems the church cared more abourt that than their priests abusing kids
