Have you tried Bonjela? That has a numbing effect.
Do you know the cause of it? x
....er.........are you being metaphorical Ethel?

I've tried bonjela, and cortisol *yuk yuk*; I've brushed and I've ignored it.

No idea what causes it.
...........sorry Ethel..........I understand now............. :o(
Have you tried corsodyl daily, also have you spoken to your dentist, it could be oral thrush and you might need a special cream
Maybe you've developed an allergy to something. Can you take anti-histamines? That might be worth a try x

Ethel, I completely understand....Ive had the most unbearably itchy mouth for about the past 2 months, so bad that yesterday I have cut it from scratching it so much....apart from looking like a freek every time I have to scratch it - it drives me insane!!! Think a trip to the docs / dentist is in order

I think you may need some anti-biotics Ethel. Sounds like you may have oral thrush.
Sometimes a Vitamin B deficency causes those symptoms.I was driven to beyond distraction with my soles of my feet being itchy and thats what my GP told me.
Im sorry cant remember which Vitamin B it was but when I started taking it within a week I was cured.
As a short term measure you could try sucking on an ice cube, and sipping iced water.
Try eating a chillie?

Should sort ya pallete lol
Hi Ethel, I get that when I suffer from hayfever so perhaps an antihistimine may help you?

As a short term remedy ginger beer may give you some relief. :)
you can get throat sprays (for a sore throat) that have a local anaesthetic effect. I used to find them helpful with hayfever itchy mouth stuff.

or eat fruit pastilles and scratch the roof of your mouth with them til the sugar is gone!
Its Vitamin B2 deficiency which causes the itching and it does seem to encompass the symptoms you have.

Worth a try.
I always get an itchy mouth when I have a cold coming or have hayfever, like some of the others here. Antihistamine does help with the hayfever symptoms so might be worth a try incase it's an allergy. It is horrid though so I hope it's soon better

Good idea with the ice cube. :)

It's helped a bit. I've only just had a lot of dental work done (finished Thursday) and I think she'd have noticed thrush.

I will go to the GP if it doesn't stop though . Thanks all for the suggestions, and it's nice to know I'm not the only sufferer.
