if websites can offer free sms messages and telecom corporations offer unlimited free texts, what is the real cost of sending and receiving electronic data?(btw not including standard tariffs)

Iread somewhere that the cost of sending atext is a fraction of a penny.

Thats why they make so much money , a great deal of it from text messages.

Effectively to the telephone companies the cost of each message is pretty much 0 because it's sent on a carrier that is there regardless of if a message is being sent down it or not.

says a lot for telecom regulation, how are they allowed to charge so much if the real cost is less than a fraction of a penny? and e mail is free?

ethics of telecom industry are nil, texting prices should be more in line with the real costs, e mail is free, does e mail use the same technology as sms?

Texting via skype is better and cheaper in my opinion.
