I don't want to hijack the "isn't Ethel amazing" thread - but following on from Legend's reference to haemophrodites - those rumoured to have been born haems include Cliff Richard, Jamie Lee Curtis, Hitler & Rhianna.

I'm not taking the mick here - & with apologies to any haemophrodites on this board; it must be awful. Even more awful to be the subject of such a rumour.

Just rumours I am sure. Except in the case of Hitler.

I don't believe any of the people you listed are hermaphrodites,I have never even read or heard rumours that they were/are.
It must be awful for parents whose babies are born with both sets of organs! Imagine having to choose which set to have surgically removed and deciding what sex to raise your child as.Very sad :(
Where on earth do these rumours come from!

Actually, I do know of one -

Jamie Lee Curtis was supposed to have been born with both sets of genitalia, a rumour started because of her supposedly 'masculine' (er, hello?) appearence, and her gender-neutral name.

The reality is far more mundane - her parents, Tony Curtis and Janet Leigh chose her name before she was born, and chose a name that would suit a boy or a girl. The did exactly the same thing for her sister Kelly.

It's as simple as that.

Like I said, I wasn't taking the mick out of any poor folk who were born with both sets of genitalia - what a decision to make in those cases where gender didn't seem obvious to the parents.

ANd where do these rumours start? I remember being told about Cliff Richard being an haemophrodite many years before I even know what one was.
Having known 2 hemaphodites, it must be said that they do look different. One "woman" was married into a very famous Building family, she couldn't have children so adopted 2, but she was always very masculine with huge hands and feet, she said her parents weren't given too much time to decide which sex she should be so went for female, when male would have probably been better. Having said that, she loved the men, literally chased down the street, and usually caught them - poor b*ggers!!!

Scarey!

Sounds suspiciously like Lily Savage to me....
There was a heomaphrodite in our school
Jamie Lee Curtis ... yes.

Cliff Richard ... not heard this before. Is that why he's never had a proper relationship, despite being a nice guy, quite decent looking, very wealthy, etc?

Hitler ... is that just because it's always amusing to be rude about Hitler?

Rhianna ... not sure who Rhianna is.
Question Author
Maybe they meant Rhiannon, the singer?

I am inclined to believe the Cliff Richard myth, Hitler - well are they getting it mixed up with him only having one ball?

Question Author
...the other being in the Albert Hall.

(Kids on the school bus on the way to swimming lessons used to sing this - I didn't understand what they meant at the time either. I was a slow starter...)
its rihanna the singer not rhiannon
I never really understood why "the other" would be in the Albert Hall.

Is there really nowhere else that rhymes with "ball" ?
Question Author
the other was detached in a fall ?

the other was lost in a squall ?

the other was wedged in a wall ?

I like the third..

LOL

The other was lost on a pub crawl

The other was never there at all

The other was severed in a brawl
I've been told I look like Jamie Lee Curtis..............I guess that means I have a masculine appearance :(
Only if you have a willy, daffy.
Nope,I most definitely don't have a willy! It would have made giving birth 3 times quite difficult.pmsl :)
