I run a group for the elderly and need to provide them with an hour-long activity which is not childish! Has anyone any ideas for something with a Christmas theme please? Some cannot walk very well, others have arthritic fingers and some do not like a quiz because it shows them up. I have tried all sorts; the best that went down was of wooden fish with a paperclip being caught with a stick and string with a paperclip.

Thank you very much to anyone who can assist./

How about 'Fondest Xmas Memories' where they can expand their subject for 5mins.

They are centre of attn in their story, recall their triumphs, exercise their minds and learn about each other. (You tape the event for a lovely historical memory).
Hello Tox, I well know your problem. Several years ago I created a website with old times songs for just such a group of people. It has (or should have!) background sound and display words for a Singalong. You will probably need Internet Explorer browser and Windows Media Player - it doesn't work with all browsers. Have a look at http://www.skeef.freeserve.co.uk/oldtimes/
There is also a similar one of Christmas carols http://www.skeef.freeserve.co.uk/christmas
Hope they work for you.

Thank you so much both of you. Those may not need too much setting up. We have an electric plug etc. Lovely ideas. Thank you very much for your replies. T
How about:
Bingo
Whist drive
Beetle Drive
Domino Drive
Using glass paints to decorate old jam jars (in Christmassy colours) for use with tea lights
An audio quiz where they hear snippets of old tunes
Charades
