History is being made today by barack obama.. will it be good or bad for the world? Could it be that the financial turmoil that is effecting the whole world was brought to light just recently because the powers that be at the moment wanted as rough a start to the new administration? or am i just an old sceptic

I'm a Labour voter through and through but when Blair got voted in the only thing that pleased me was we'd got rid of the Tories, the sleaziest bunch of crooks, liars, perverts and adulterers of the last century.

So your saying that the Americans bought down the entire banking system so that Obama coukd have a "rough start".
Not forgetting that the roots of the whole thing started under a Democrat president.
That they bought thier own economy to the point of total collaose so that Obama coukd have a "rough start"
Understand that people in the media had been warning for years that it was going to happen.
It didn't "just come to light" When Gordon Brown was chancellor he was warning about debt in the finace system and all he was doing was echoing think tank.
And lastly you think the Republicans wanted this to come to notice under their stewardship.

Very simply put.
People wer encouraged to buy on credit - in the 1990's the US government put through a bill that enabled people on low incomes to buy their own homes.
Credit cards became prevelant.
Amerivan banks kept lending further and further down the scale.
Banks took on other banks debts, however these were paper debts.
Finaly somewhere in America one small bank had a run and it didn't have the money to pay so it called its debts they defaulted and it started to roll.
Banks refused to lend money to ther banks because they couldn't be sure that they were not for toxic debt.
Its far more complicated than this and I cannot explain it all.

I'm not saying that the financial turmoil was a big conspiracy against obama..as you say it started long ago..but why did the bubble happen to burst when it looked like there was a chance that there was going to be a change of administration ,,when all the polls were pointing in obamas direction this turmoil just raised its head.. it's been said it all stems from america so all eyes will be looking at obama to try to put this all right.. if he succeeds he will go down as a hero and if he fails he will be seen as a flop.. he's in a terrible position.. this had to come to light at some period of time.. for it to come out now is in my opinion an attempt to make him become a flop..
I have read and found quite the comic in some of these answers..in regards of terambulan's remark that if Obama could sing he could make motown records and boost the world finances...and he should have gotten Michael Jackson for a vice president...Janet Jackson could battle with Oprah Winfrey for most popular...I have heard some pretty crazy comments on past presidential elects but this one will top them all for Amearica.. and further ..Gee I wonder what Americans thought when they woke up and owned an insurance company one day...A.I.G....and borrowed the money from where to get it??? Billions at that...Gee all the Americans who got into the credit frenzy from the 90's..when they missed payments and lost their credit,, the banks did not care...however when the banks get bad credit they get bailed out...there's a thought. Gee...who has it rough...I think the Americans probably do...their government is more than a media comic...it's more like stand comedy live...
