thanks zacsmaster for that, not to sure if i could actually drink it with fish and chips though but i get your drift.
it has been stored in the fridge so i am guessing it should be ok. she hopes!!!!!!
A cork allows a teensy bit of air to penetrate.

Over a number of years, this will allow a red wine to develop and mature.

Or, in the case of Champagne ... to go flat.

If stored correctly it will not 'go off', I had a 92 vintage that I opened last year for a very special occasion! It was delicious.

thanks laceymichael, glad you enjoyed it!
mine has been stored in a cool place and is now in the fridge waiting for that special moment!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I think that special moment has arrived about ................................................................... now! Can I share it with you?

its nice to know there is someone out there that likes champagne, all my answers have been from people who detest the stuff.
sorry beanebabe dont know when that moment will be, i will keep you posted.
Better late than never - nobody has mentioned that the champagne MUST be stored horizontally, so that the cork is always wet. This ensures that the carbonated contents of the bottle remain that way. Did you drink it yet and how was it?

hi maxi2 not drunk it yet.
it has been laying down in the fridge, i really do not know what it is going to taste like, watch tjhis space!!!!!!
Hi Vintage Dom Perignon keeps very well and your bottle (judging by your previous comments in this thread) should be fine. My parther and I were fortunate enough to be given a bottle of 1970 Dom Perignon and it was exquisite.
