Why decide in advance not not to read them all? All I can say is that, after I had read one, I did go on to read them all and all were excellent. So, actually, I don't believe it matters which one you start with. If you decide that one was enough, just stop!

If you do get hooked, Peter, I'd be delighted to hear it. I found the extremely engaging way in which a modern murder mystery could be so successfully intermingled with ancient Navajo culture quite fascinating.
I'm saddened to hear that he died on Sunday.
