As far as I know, the oldest newspaper that is still printed today is the "Belfast Telegraph"

From the British Library's website comes this:

1785 - Jan 1 : Daily Universal Register founded by John Walter I. Became the Times on 1 January 1788. Britain's oldest surviving newspaper with continuous daily publication.

Just looked up the Belfast Telegraph and it was founded later in 1871.

My local newspaper (when I lived in England) was the Stamford Mercury (called Rutland & Stamford mercury in Rutland and just Stamford Mercury in Stamford).  It dates back to 1695 and is still in publication.  Some websites say 1713, but the newspaper itself says 1695 (with some websites agreeing).

Although there are older newspapers, the Shrewsbury Chronicle is the oldest that has been in continuous production.

Rarll was close but I believe it's "The Belfast Newsletter" founded in 1737 - it's still in print. The Shrewsbury Chronicle was founded in 1772 according to its website.
