I was pretty stunned by this attack, and I thought ****, that's it, it'll be attacks-ahoy from now on. I wouldn't have believed anyone if they told me that it would have panned out like this in terms of attacks. I mean....if I was an employer hiring someone on terrorism experience I wouldn't touch any of these guys. What on earth happened? Are they just mopers? Do they really exist? Did they buy some good playstation games? Buy a big bag of weed and set up a commune in middle england? There are 'hundreds of islamic terrorists" in this country ready to strike. What are they doing? Biding their time? I refuse to believe that it's because the security services provide an effective security shield. Remember Osama bin Laden at Windsor?

Theres no doubt that there are thousands of islamic zealots in this country with a overbearing hatred of the west and its democratic values... whether they have the capabilities or tools to launch a coordinated terrorist attack that remains to be seen.. but after sept 11 you can never be complacent and the government in my view is right to try to implement stricter security laws, whether they are the right measures that remains to be seen.
Well according to john stevens, he of the doom mongering big mouthed persuasion and I wish he would shut it, there at least ONE HUNDRED al queda trained terrorists, maybe TWO HUNDRED. My gosh. I would immediately curtail the civil liberties of SIXTY MILLION PEOPLE for this. What a ******* idiot. And watching Blair last nite - I am following the advice of teh security services = I am covering my ass. Can you imagine a security service NOT recommending tighter measure. Oh no Tony we have everything under control. The new measures simply make their job easier at the cost of ******* all over the legal fabric of Great Britain. How about, do your job. If you can't keep tabs on a few hundred suspects resign and get someone more competent. And what a joke the Commons is, a false stand followed by cringeworthy retraction based on a couple of minor amendments. Thank god for the House of lords, unelected and therefore immune to the snivelling accusations levelled by the brainless toadies of parliament. To be honest, I wish people like stevens would shut their holes, too much talk, too little substance.
Its easy for Blair. He says the security people told him so and if it turns out that they were wrong... WMD.......then hey its not my fault is it. Wonder why the tory leader does not use the term WMD as his election strategy, maybe because the idiots fell for it. Mr Bliar will rue the day he said...trust me the WMDs are there.
Maybe they are better than we thought. After all, Osama and his gang of known terrorists not only managed to infiltrate the US of A, with apparently no probs whatsoever, cause mass destruction and panic, they still evade capture 4 and a half years on. They must be good given the money the US spends on defense and arms. Back in the UK, do I need 4 years to plan for 5 of my mates to walk into the London Underground each with a backpack of high explosives and all blow ourselves up at different stations? They must be meticulous. The question is, who benefits from all this panic and scaremongering? Is there a conspiracy? yes, Am I a cynic? yes

I occasionally hear smiler Blair say 'Rather this than someone does do something bad and people point fingers at the government and say 'told you so'.'
We're big enough to take it, we don't mind keeping our civil liberties because we accept that trampling on them with ID cards and house arrest wouldn't really stop a determined terrorist anyway.
As for 9/11, they knew all about a proposed hijacking, but really weren't able to stop it. So what are they doing now? I got stopped at security and had a nail file taken from me. If a terrorist wants to hold up a plane, they can do it. I refuse to believe that some grunt standing at an airport collecting nail files has stopped a hardcore suicide bomber from getting his way. Remember the shoe bomber? He was caught *in the process* of trying to blow himself up.
If the situation is that they don't strike because they choose not to, what made them choose not to?
I think they would be blowing alot of their own up if they did decide to attack britain especially some city's like Leicester and Birmingham etc. In a way i feel a tad sorry for Blair he just has to go along with alot of it i would hate that job but someone has to do it and take the brunt of everyones aggression don't they about wrong desicions or something that they think will not work. At the end of the day they can do nothing if someone seriously wants to destroy us, with enough planning and exsplosives anyone could.........

Who are 'their own'?

the same religion that they follow

I think when you're baking a cake with the ingredients 'Blair' 'Islamic Terrorism' and 'This might hurt you (and your civil liberties) a bit, but trust me on this one' people get a bit nauseous and don't want to eat much of that cake, because they think of the last thing he cooked 'Iraq/WMD/battlefield weapons etc' which ended up making us all vomit.
basically fear is what politicians want. Its what the soviets and americans did in the cold war to get power. Its worth noting that no-one that the police has arrested has admitted to being a terrorist. Further, they have only actually convicted one person, which was last week. Once again, the evidence was leeky. Osama Bin Larden is needed as the enemy. He is just a funder of activities, the US have empowered him far too much. Figures of fear are needed for politicians to have power.
