I have a 10 month old baby and since returning from our holidays in August she will not sleep in her cot. We only seem to be able to settle her wrapped in a couple of blankets on the floor. Although we are all getting a nights sleep like this we don't think its right and would like some advice on getting back in to a routine. We both work and have a 5 year old as well so getting a nights sleep is great for us. As its half term soon we were thinking of just putting her back in her cot and each time she wakes just try and settle her and try and persevere and see if we can get her back in a cot or does anyone out there have any other ideas?? Has anyone persevered with getting a baby back into a routine and did it take long??

if she will settle wrapped up in a couple of blts then why not wrap her u[p like this in the cot see if that works, then you can gradually take the blankets away
I have had the same problem with my son but he has been suffering from a cold and ear infection for nearly 4 weeks now ... I started to bring him in bed with me as it was the only way he would settle and, like you, we both work 5 days a week.

This past week I have decided enough is enough and I have literally camped out at the side of his bed if he wakes and cries - this is normally 2-3 times at the moment. I go into his room when he really starts crying to find him standing up. I find his dummy and lay him down. I then lay at the side of his cot, on the floor, with my arm touching his belly, back, hand, etc through the bars. He does toss and turn sometimes but normally within 20 mins (max) he is asleep --- I then return back to bed. Before all this happened he slept right through so as you can imagine its getting is all out of routine.

Hope this helps .... persist and remember - WHEN YOU LAYING AT THE SIDE OF HIS COT ONE NIGHT, I PROBABLY AM TOO ... TEXT ME!! LOL!! xx

Thanks tgm 1974, we are going to persevere with getting her back into a routine next week when the kids are off school and we are off work. I'm hoping it will only take a few nights to sort her out. I must admit she is full of cold at the moment and she has another 3 teeth coming through but hopefully she'll be fit and well by next weekend ready for the strict routine!!! Suppose you've just got to keep focused.
