Thank you Cassimer Billynomates Ianess Solarjunkie and Gastwo for your answers to my LPG/Oil fuel question,

Gastwo, you said you had hands on experience of an oil and LPG Combi boiler, can you remember (roughly) what your annual running costs were? And what boiler performed the best?

Hello again!

Running the LPG system, for heating a 3 bedroom detached cottage/house and domestic water, it was costing 60 a month, including tank rental (Calor) at the time I worked for British Gas, and even with staff discount they couldnt do it cheaper.

Two years later, we have a similar type house (old solid stone walls) and our heating oil bill is running at 40 a month, once again for heating and domestic hot water.

The only vagaries are market prices, but as they are both petroleum by-products the prices are linked anyway. If you live in the country, go to agricultural fairs and you may find the local oil distributors stand will be offering cheap deals if you buy on the spot...

Hope this all helps!

regards.

Sorry, just read your thread again. Our present combi is a Grant external. Only had it a year, so I cant pass judgement really, except that so far its efficient and trouble free.
