I have stainless steel appliances in mty kitchen, oven, sink, extractor fan and hob all of which have started rusting. Can anyone explain why this would happen or do i need to contact the manufacturer stating thay are all faulty as i was under the impression SS does not rust.

stainless steel does rust, especially if it has been cut using oxygen.

Contact the manufacturer though
'Stainless Steel' will rust under certain circumstances, particularly decorative strips that may be just Chrome-Iron. In the Aerospace Industry it is officially called Corrosion Resisting Steel. Contact with other steels, incorrect welding or flame cutting as mentioned above, The chemical explosion at Flixborough in 1974 was caused by incorrect welded Stainless Steel.
Contact with some chemicals including salt, acid and some cleaners can cause corrosion.
