It's interesting that even some of the Muslim parents are hinting that it's a step too far, and that other options should be on the menu.

And no, leg end, throat slitting hasn't been a standard method of animal slaughter, certainly in this country, for some time. The method used before the introduction of the electric stunner was pole-axing - an iron spike driven through the head. Not altogether pleasant, I know, but at least the animals mostly went out cold before the moment of death and not forced to die a slow, lingering, undignified death in the name of someone's god - a god, incidentally, about which I should think it cares diddly squat.
Once again if anyone thinks that slaughtering an animal Islamic way is painful then this link may help as this gives you the references of studies by few scientists that how it is better than any other method.

keyplus90.......I have seen animals slaughtered in British abattoirs and they are all bled after humanly stunning/shooting. This method also causes nerve & muscle contraction which pumps the blood out. Only difference is swear words instead of prayers!
They're probably responsible for Marmitegate as well.
'Raghib Ali, one of the founders of the Oxford Islam and Muslim Awareness project said: The meat looks the same and tastes the same. It is just a different way the animals are reared and killed. Its not cruel, it is better for the animal.'

So what is wrong with serving up non-halal meat?
