I have just been up town and mowed down by an old lady in a pope buggy. If I hadn't been wearing heels, she would have got me in the right place to plonk me straight on my face. She didn't stop so she actually sent me flying twice and then launched into a tirade of abuse as I tried to gather my shopping and stop my toddler from running off. Fortunately a young lad managed to grab my son for me and sat with me while I composed myself to the tune of this woman and her husband shouting at me

What is wrong with people, why couldn't she apologise? and why are they allowed on the pavements in those things? Im nursing very sore ankles here and an extremely bruised ego. I bet she's one of those old people that moan about young people not having any manners.

Sily old bag - really!! Glad there was someone there tp help you.

I have to say, I think some old people are ruder than a lot of young people. My teenagers treat everyone with respect, hold doors etc and often old people dont say thank you!!
They are a flipping nuisance, and we're getting them over here now, and our pavements just aren't made for them. and yes, they are bolshy!!
There used to be a woman who went nineteen to the dozen on one of those buggy thijngs near where I lived in Surrey and on more than one occasion she nearly ran me down too and always looked like I was the one at fault. I think these things are great inventions I really do but there are some racers out there!
Where do you think the young learn thier attitude from.
I've come across people like her myself.
They can be a pain in the neck and other places.
personally i shout back at them if they start moaning at me.
Respect gets respect.

excellent point, lilly.

Im still sat here in shame, shouting arrrghhhh in public isnt one of my finest moments .

Oh I dunno... Could be you made someones day doing that and they'll be telling people in pubs all about it this evening. Look on the bright side.
You've been involved in an accident which has caused injury and need to report this to the Police.
If you dont, she will carry on as before without a care in the world. What if next time it's a small child???
I hope you feel better soon. xx
When I had to use my scooter it was the most humiliating and horrible experience - I was very glad to be shot of it after my operation.

Smacked in the face by handbags and even worse, shopping baskets; my eyes permanently at crutch level; burned on the cheek by a cigarette, narrowly missing my eye.

Trying to cross the road was a flipping nightmare with parked cars obstructing my view of oncoming traffic, and hiding me.

I hope I never have to use it again.

Rude people are everywhere, though and I really do think rudeness and aggression is becoming far more common.
Oh no, poor you goodsy!

I've said it before and I'll say it again. Some old people think that by being old gives them a license to be crotchety and often downright bloody rude.

I remember once when Mini Boo was in her pushchair, and we we're in a shop with very small aisles. One "old dear" saw fit to literally push the pram on the side, so she could pass by me. I was gobsmacked.

Take a brolly next time you go out- and jam her wheels and she's hurtling past, that'll teach her!
wasnt loftie was it?
Sorry for that BOO but you were taking up all the room and I have much more important business than you!!!
I used to go to school with that woman's daughter - so glad it wasn't a fatal accident.

People using these things should have driving lessons beforehand!

Glad you & your son are okay Goodsy.

Eek its just as well im on the chunky side then isnt it? If id be remotely frail id have gone and I was fuming thinking it could have been Evan she got. Not so much because of the initial accident but that she just didnt stop. It cant be that hard to stop it immediately, she actually didnt stop for the whole thing.

Ethel, i can sympathise with you there as they are all the things that get me vocal with my children being that height. Cigarettes being my main gripe (even though I am a smoker) the number of times my kids say ow because of that is insane. Always outside wilkinsons, primark and poundland lol.
...and I think they should make some type of beeping sound so at least one can tell when they are approaching - I say ban the damned things.
Well you can't ban them because they are allow some people to be very independant and not everyone is akin to a boy racer on them. I think the idea of having to pass a test, being on the road (like bikes) if they go at a certain speed and if they're wreckless on them the ability to charge them for it is called for though. Do they have license plates like cars? I've never noticed. That would help reportiing the insane ones.

I Was too shocked and ashamed to be honest. Im not good with people shouting at me at the best of times, its only after I think, hang on, I Was just walking along.
