I have a small area of rising damp in my sitting room. I've never had this before, although my house does suffer from condensation.
Any idea how rising damp is treated (what they do) and what it costs?

..........take too long to explain Scarlett..............though, a lot of suspected rising damp is just condensation. Get a local remedial company from the Yellow Pages............they'll send a "surveyor" around to give you a free assessment :o)
Rising damp occurs when the waterproof membrane separating the wet underground from the house structure has failed, allowing water is rise up through the structure of the property into the low level walls or floor.
Try the above idea first.
