Can someone please help and tell me how to remove the above named programme. I have been trying since last Thursday with no luck.

That cleared it for me. You will have (accidentally) clicked on a link which says something like "You have a greetings card from a friend". Once you open the file, it downloads this to your PC.

You can also get viruses just by visiting an infected site.
