The Ford Focus was the best-selling car in 2000, accounting for 5.2 per cent of the total market and the Vauxhall Astra took second place in the top-sellers' list. Ford was the new car market leader with total sales of 374,342, which was 16.8 per cent of the total market. Vauxhall was in second place and Peugeot third.
