mid twenties pretty healthy although quite slim at 11stone and 5 foot 10. anyway i had been going gym regularly for a few months and was seeing slight improvement but then circumstances stopped me going for a month. im just fed up whenever i get into it something derails me and now finding motivation hard to come by, dont get me wrong im not extremely skinny but could do with a stone or 2. its just so annoying through all the time and money i put in at the gym i still look exactly the same....just wondered if anyone else had been through this

I've been going through this on & off for about 6 years now...
Swimming holds my attention for so long, esp the sauna/steam room/jacuzzi bit afterwards, but it's the fact I have to expose myself that's a bit offputting.
Running - can't.
Walking - boring.
Cycling - ok so long as it's not raining/windy/cold
Gym - boring and too expensive for me these days.
BF has recently brought me a wii fit/sports which is good fun, but sometimes i can hardly be a**** after a 10 hour day at work.
I lack motivation & willpower - until I find a new BF then I go at it L for leather for a few months, then get fed up again!
Hi MonkhouseBob.... I have been in the same boat EXACTLY!!!! Weird eh! I joined a gym with the Husband in December. decided I needed to not only lose a stone but to get fit too. Have been going 2-3 times a week for last 7 months with a few sporadic weeks where I haven't been at all (on holiday or fallen poorly). Didn't notice ANY difference til I tried on a pair of my fave jeans and the Husband said they were baggy! Then people at work started noticing I looked slimmer. I had lost 8lbs... which has been the incentive for me to keep going. Yeah I miss the occasional time now and again but my weight has not gone up and my fitness has stayed about the same.
Personally.. I would like to keep going and I tell myself its not just about what I look like on the outside.. but being fitter on the inside too. We may be young now - but being physically fitter helps you fight any illnesses and may even help prevent some cancers. Keep going Girl - I also vary my routine.. too to stop me getting bored.... dont sit on one machine for ages.. try 10 mins on three diff machines! or look at a class...
I would try speaking to one of the gym instructors too and telling them you are feeling uninspired and bored - see if they can create you a plan that has a bit of variety to it.
I drag myself to the gym - and am pretty unmotivated... but always feel good for going!
I am sure velvetee when she sees this thread will advise you!!!
Exactly the same as you - and salla - oh my god, seems you are saying exactlky what I wanted to say, and again I am not that big - could do with losing maybe 2.5??? Nightmare, and I really had a flair for the gym for around a yr and a half, and now - canna be bothered at all.

Why is that, I was enjoying it, telling everyone I was enjoying it, looking like and acting like I was enjoying it but all of a sudden I don't anymore, but the bottom line was I was going at it hammer and tongs and not getting anywhere.....AYE like 700 cals + on the cross trainer before I would fall off, and go onto somehting else FOR MONTHS!!.......my weight aint changed one little iota, and because of this has demotivated me and maked me feel abnrormal compared to all the gym bunnies around me. who stay off crisps and lose a stone :-(

Maybe a fluctuation of a WHOLE 3 pounds woopdeeeddooooo, what's wrong with me, looks like I am the same as all you's here - spooky!!!

Nae funnny am fair scunner't wee the hale thing.

Grumph

Am thinking about going home to do my Davina DVD tonight although b/f will be coming in at an unusually decent time, so will probably walk in while I am half way through jumping around the liveingroom, and then this just puts me off.

Grumph
get a wii fit so much fun
Surely its not just about weight loss though Girls.... If you are working out you ARE getting fitter!!! That HAS to be a good thing for your health doesn't it????
Where else do we get exercise from when we r sat at our office desks all day?

Having a healthy heart and lungs is a plus.. it aint just about what you look like!]
(though yes I hate those effortless gym bunnies too! Boo)
And this ++++++++++ a dead healthy diet thing going on - crispbreads xtra lite Philly ham and tomato for lunch, protein and NO carbs for 5+ months now in the evenings (which my doctor told me to do during thyroid tests etc) and I have kept it up as I feel cloated now if I do, and NO I am not eating;

crisps
chocolate
cr4p

before you ask...... :-)

Arrrrrgh.
**bloated - ha ha ha ha
Yeah delightes, and your right, to be healthy, and feel so, but surely this should come with a little reward of the loss of a few unwanted pounds now.......surely?

Skinny isn't everything, and I will NEVER be skinny - bone structure a natural size 12, I am currently a 14 and 5' 8" (and not fat - just "normal"), just not as svelt as i'd like to be). Just want my jeans to be looser - my god I don't ask for much me!!! LOL

My mates decide to cut out BK's every second week that they indulge, and have a bikini body in no time.

It's sooooooooo not fair!
You reckon 4get - they are good are they?

Just money is tight, hence the old last yrs Davina DVD, gotta make do I'm afraid :-)

Well I had dvds, I had air walkers etc but got bored, so I go on wii fit you dont notice when playing games on it and also there is one bit where you can do step and the counts come out remote so you can watch normal tv, so you can put it on through your fave programme and exercise for half hour each time. I guess you could do this with any step but it does help with the counts. I do about 2300 steps each time
It's always hard getting back into a routine if you stop for a while.

As someone else suggested, ask an Instructor to make a programme up for you. Try to do a variety of different things, so you don't get bored or your body becomes accustomed to the same routine.

Why not try some group classes like Circuits, Spin and Body Pump. It's different and you may feel more motivated in a high energised group activity.
Ive been struggling with weight loss myself. the best thing i found that modivated me was music. dont go with the slow stuff pick something that has a good and fast beat to it. listen to it loud and set a goal of number of songs before you give up. try this every time you work out! works great and motivation is you get to listen to great music, try to only listen to music when working out, like a treat! hopefully it works for you!
