Kitten or Older Cat
5 Answers
I live in a flat and am looking at getting a cat which will be an indoor cat due to the busy roads. Would I be better to get a kitten or an older cat (which has been kept indoors previously)? Also would it be better to have one or 2?

Maybe get an older one that doesn't mind being alone and in all day. Younger cats are normally very playful so think it would bore them.
However I jhave knwo people in the past who have had kittens and left them all day and were fine, that way they grow up with it, or you could get 2 kittens so can play together.
If it was up to me though I'd get a rescue cat that needs a good home. We have had them, and it's really rewarding, and there's plenty that need a good home.

I would go for an older cat too. The rescue centres usually have many cats who are in need of a loving home and everyone seems to want kittens. They are undeniably cute but older cats can be just as rewarding. As the others have said the centre should advise on company - they sometimes have cats who have lived together and should be rehomed as a pair. Good luck - let us know how you get on
Hi september78 it's nice to go for a rescue cat as others have said kittens will get more chance of rehoming, another thing about a rescue , the cat might have come from an eldery person who has died or gone into long term care, so you will have a more settled cat who will be glad to be back in a home.Good luck with your quest and please keep us informed of the outcome.g.
