I have read quite a lot this week about people being stabbed and killed, especially young people, it sickens me to the stomach.

Just spoke to a mate of mine and she told me her 14 year old son walked his girlfriend home a couple of weeks ago, he got her home safely and then made his journey back home, he had to walk passed a gang of around 25/30 boys who were all looking at him as he passed...he sensed something was going to happen, and was then glassed in the side of the head!!!! He ran as fast as he could and eventually got home, his mum is beside herself over it and what could have happened, she wanted to call the police but her son begged her not to through fear of repercussions.

What are your views on this sort of thing, and what do you think should/could be done about it?

The PC obssesed librals in our society are slowly destroying it. I am not against libralism per se but there is no longer a deterent.

To stop it you put these people away in prison no fines, no community work but away.

As long as nothing happens to these people they think they can get away with it.

It wouldn't happen if politicians had to walk the same streets as us.
Sadly it seems the norm in some communities. If i was the mother id move , but where to eh ?

What price your childs life ?
Staying there seems a dangerous option .I wish her well.
its shocking, people used to comment on america being so bad for gun crimes the uk is just as bad and just as dangerous these days. years ago all you had to worry about was going to the pub and if there was a scuffle you might get a black eye now they stab you as soon as look at you. its a scary place to be. i find my attitudes and worry levels have gone up since i had children and i know that this is the world in which they will be growing up into.

in all honesty id find a relative or someone to move in with and escape.
thankfully knife crime here in tenerife is about nil.there are of course domestic and also drunken holiday maqkers .but the crime here is mainly petty crime like pick pocketying or even a bag snatch.but rarely a knifing , none that ive heard of .

hope her sons ok , but ge5t himaway from there .i darent think about possible consequences lil
I used to think these kids get into gangs and crime, because they lack a positive male role model in their lives. I assumed they were all from one parent families, living on rough, inner city estates.

The reality of it, is many of these kids are from two parent families, who work hard and are law abiding. Often these parents are completely unaware of what their children have been doing, as at home, they are the model child.

I don't know why things are like they are anymore. Peer pressure seems to have a strong hold on the outlook of these kids, so much so, perhaps losing face with their fellow gang members is a greater sense of shame, than actually taking someone's life.

I have no idea what happens in schools these days, I've heard they do send youth workers and community police in to talk about knife crime. Children need to be taught about empathy from day one and bear the consequences of their actions.
