If i were to place a resistor on the positive lead of my MAF sensor, would i be able to alter my a/f ratio in order to gain more power? if so, any idea what ohm resistor would be a good selection?

Yes and no. The ratio change will only be effective at a certain range, depending on the resistor used - why not try it with a variable resistor - change it run it, change it run it...

But depending on your cars age - you may find it overrides anyway!

If you alter the resistance of the sensor the engine management system it will surely just compensate for the revised signal it gets.

Or it will just report a fault condition if you go outside the normal range of the sensor.
