i will be 71 and wife 69 and we dont have issues with our health.
i have obtained some quotes from the net and considering both oz and nz provide medical cover the level of quotes average some 350.

We were in a similar position for NZ recently and, like last year we found Age Concern to be very good, especially if there are pre-existing medical problems.

However, my sister has just taken out her travel insurance via the Halifax and it was extremely good value for money.
You could always give them a go, it is cheaper, of course, online.
I used to get insurance online with Columbus direct and always found them to be cheap
A friends mother who is over 80 got her travel insurance through the Post Office when everyone was coming up with silly quotes.
you are not correct in stating that both oz and NZ provide medical cover - although emergency hospital treatment is covered, seeing a gp, outpatient appointments and medicines are not

TBH 350 seems quite reasonable to me as this includes cancellation cover, medical cover, repatriation etc
