Has anyone else had their child tax credits totally cocked up for over 3 yrs due to an overpayment and got the money back? I was overpaid 1400 in 2005 and immediately knew it was wrong and offered to send it back but I was refused they said future awards would be taken into consideration. Payments then stopped completely for over 2 and a half years until Jan this year when I claimed again. I have just spoken to a team leader who is putting my case to head office and tells me I will get all the previous money I should have got back. I do hope this is true because my finances have been dire for the last few years and are now worse then ever! Even with the overpayment taken off I work this money owed to be approx 3000! It would be a dream come true if I got it all at once. Has this happened to anyone else?

I've not had exactly the same problem but the tax credit people owed us money for over a year and we had to get our MP involved. Eventually we got it back but it took about 18months.
Involving your MP does help as it gets "flagged up" at their end and seems to make a difference.

Good Luck!
