because the load of crap we've got for a government would rather waste our money on things nobody wants (you all know the sort of S**t I mean) then on the things that really matter
My sister in Law carries out various sponsored runs etc for this hospital. Her son, my husband's nephew was seriously ill some time ago.

So they are getting some extra money this way too!!!!
the money should go for the childrens
extra bits ...not a lot gets there as the
admin and fat cats all take a cut ..
sad but true ....
If you give 1 to Oxfam 15p goes to them ..
support a local charity ..with no fat cats ...

with respect to you and your family funnygirl, this hospital SHOULDNT have to resort to begging for cash. this is a place that is respected the world over and cares for the children of the U.K.
we give hundreds of millions to Europe and the rest of the world, but cant give enough to keep G.O.S.H. running at the levels expected in a modern childrens hospital.
:-(
I know where your coming from and I utterly agree with you.

It seems like GOSH puts emotional blackmail and pressure on parents for money!
My ex worked for a number of years at GOS.....he was a researcher. Have you any idea how much it costs to run a place like GOS---not only for treatment but also as a research facility??.....

You cannot have the most innovative and respected Surgeons,Drs,anesthetists,scientists,nurses.....all the most dedicated in their fields, along with the necessary support systems of administrative, clerical, maintenance, housekeeping, availability of schooling for long-term patients.....without constant injections of cash.

True - a facility of GOS' reputation should not need to ask for money...but like anything else-money neesd to be spent just to make money. The children (and their families)there get medical care and emotional support of the highest order.
