I'm going to the Dominican Republic in October this year. I NEED to use hairstraigteners. My hair is very frizzy and wavy without and we are going to a wedding over there. I use hair tools and the moment but are on their way out. I need straightners that will DEFINATLY work over there. Anyone have any ideas, please?

See this link for the types of mains electric plugs & voltage used in the Dominican Republic.

You will need straightners that will operate at 110V and have the correct plug attachment.

As to whether any particular model of straightner will work as well in the Caribbean as it does here I couldnt say.
Earlier this month I went to family wedding in Hong Kong, my Auntie booked a hairdresser to visit her hotel on the morning of the wedding so that her hair would look spot on (she has problems in high humidity), and it did look beautiful all day.
GHD hair straighteners definately won,t work in the dominican republic. You need low voltage ones they are usually cheaper to buy but don,t work as well i took some morphy richards and they worked fine.
Just take an adapter. You can buy an adapter stack, which will have a variety of different ones for various countries.

When I went to the Caribbean, the sockets were the same as UK, but not sure about the Dominican Republic.

If you're worried, take one of those Braun Independent stylers with the gas tube.
