Schott's original Miscellany? brilliant little book, full of odds and s*ds.
Here's a tongue twister I hadn't heard before...

Eleven benevolent elephants.

And another...

Three short sword sheaths.

Lol!

:-) It's a great little book...

...but I'm not twisting my tongue round an elephant or a sheath, even for you!

( And you can keep the gobbling gargoyles & gabbling goblins well away!)

You really DO have a copy then - or you've googled or borrowed it!!
Lovely book though, and has some useful and fascinating facts.
Wasn't there a Food version also??
Ice, a little off topic but still not bad:
"What do you take in school?"
"We take, Sir. Lessons.
And why are they called lessens?
Well, Sir, on Monday we go to school for five hours, and Tuesday we go to school for four hours; Wednesday, of course, is three hours. Obviously, Thursday is two hours in school. However, Friday is only one hour. Therefore, Ice, as the week progresses the time in school lessens.
Collective groan ^^^
Lol

Oh bless!!!! My profound apologies, LinK!!
Lol - as you must've noticed, I tend to reply wryly, or with a grain of humour - sometimes misconstrued as sarcasm.
Well I have a whole library of books, and wish I had more time to read them, but I don't. Now and again, one of these little gems comes my way, and once you start reading it, it just intrigues me further - but I somehow missed the damned gift voucher that was folded between its pages!
The thing about "lessons' is not mine. It comes from "Alice In Wonderland." Read it as an adult: it's not really a kid's book. Some, or most , of the plays on words and innuendos are quite "adult".....but polite.
Lol - I was a little concerned that you mightn't appreciate my somewhat ribald "turn of post" this morning, even though we've had a laugh in the past!

Glad I caused no offence... :-))
Question Author
I've got a very old copy of Alice in Wonderland stewey - but haven't read it for years, so probably wouldnt've remembered it.

Who was that last bit to, LinK - me, or stewey?
Rofl - Yeah, right! No offence to stewey, but my ribaldry is reserved for the lovely Icey!

(As she well knows!) :-)) x

I'm away off to my pit now, so I'll wish a good night to all...
Ice, I would love to link with you: however I would suggest that in the meantime, prior to to the coming-together, that you read the entire book...............It's really funny:)
I will take the opportunity to say goodnight now...My head will hit the pillow and I shall dream of the Cheshire Cat-lol.....or the Caterpiller..."whooooo are you??"...lol

Nite all xxxx
Question Author
Don't know whether to blush at you two, or grin. I'm afraid, LinK, that I'm missing lots of things on here at the moment, because of my slow-running computer, but it's being overhauled again soon, so that should make a bit of difference. Night anyway. x

Stewey - I've read the book, but finding the time to read is a luxury these days. Ah well - later, I will. x
In that case, I shall imbibe a smallish amount from the tiny bottle on the table and attempt to open the door and fall gradually to sleep.......Please help me, I'm falling.
Question Author
Did I manage to catch you? : (
I tried!
Good night, all: it was fun.
