I am 49 years old. Very good health and quite fit.  Am I to old to get a job on a North Sea oil rig?

I couldn't say for sure, but I do know people in their 50's working offshore. Here's two links to the local Aberdeen papers, they have sections and jobs pages dedicated to the Oil Industry.

I've got to say you'd be pretty lucky to get a start at your age but you never know. We have plenty of guys your age and on into thier 50's and 60's on the platform I work on and indeed all the other platforms and rigs I've been on. But I have to say I've never met anyone who started at your age. It depends what you want to do or if you have a specific trade you can use. There's no way you'll get a start as a roustabout but if you're a welder or tiffy or something you never know. Certainly the P&J is the paper to keep an eye on. I also happen to know that a major oil company will soon be looking for production techs and will be advertising nationally. Good luck.
