How long do you have to leave a plot which has grown potatoes before planting poptatoes again on the same plot,2 or 3 years maybe.?

The rule I go by, others may differ, is three seasons, Potatoes take a lot of goodness out of the soil, so for that time, I don't plant any root vegetables.
Our local farmer sows potatoes in same field every year. He does put lots of chemicals on the field in between times.

The crop is grown for supermarkets.
As long as you replenish what spuds take out ie: plenty of well rotted compost and some blood-fish & bonemeal, you should be o.k .

Thank you all. I should have said that I am concerned about pasing on viruses from one crop to the next.
A potato field should be rested for one year after every two years.
